The range >= '2024-01-10' AND < '2024-02-01' includes January 10 through January 31 (using an exclusive upper bound). Alpha (Jan 5) is before the start. Beta (Jan 15) and Gamma (Jan 31) are both within the range. Using an exclusive upper bound (< '2024-02-01') rather than <= '2024-01-31' is safer with timestamps - it avoids cutting off events at 2024-01-31 23:59:59.
